Dr. Richard Brucker, a Los Angeles native, is a board certified pediatrician who got his bachelor’s degree in psychology at Indiana University, his medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine, and completed his pediatric residency at the University of New Mexico. After finishing residency Dr. Brucker moved back to Los Angeles where he worked as a pediatrician at both, St. John’s Well Child and Family Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center in South Central Los Angeles, and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. At Cedars-Sinai, Dr Brucker helped to create the Step-Up Kids Weight Management Clinic, worked in the High Risk Infant Progress Clinic, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Newborn Nursery and the Pediatric Wards. Dr. Brucker is on faculty at both UCLA and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Dr Brucker has received multiple awards and honors during his education and professional career. During Medical School Dr. Brucker received the American Medical Association Foundation’s Leadership Award and was featured on WWLTV as their Quiet Hero of the Week, for the volunteer work Dr. Brucker did while in New Orleans during medical school; he helped to create a free or low cost health care guide that was used widely across New Orleans, ran a TB screening clinic out of a homeless shelter and helped to organize a medical relief trip in rural Haiti, in addition to other volunteer projects. After being nominated by his peers, Dr. Brucker was inducted into the Gold Humanism in Medicine Society for his humanistic approach to patient care. During his pediatric residency Dr. Brucker was awarded a Community Access to Child Health grant from the American Association of Pediatrics to work on helping adolescent students in high school get into and stay within a healthy weight range. Additionally Dr. Brucker has received the Cedars-Sinai Standing Ovation Award for excellent care provided while working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Brucker loves to spend time with his wife Lindsey (the other Dr. Brucker) and son Owen. He loves living in the South Bay, playing softball, traveling and everything New Orleans...Geaux Saints!!! Dr. Brucker’s passion is driven by the bonds he builds with his patients over the course of their lives and the enjoyment he holds in working as a team with children and their families to keep them healthy and well!
